AIR SERVICE POLICY
The purpose of this policy is to inform University departments concerning the approved procedures for use of Corporate Air Service.
This policy applies to all University employees and students, including those on the regional campuses, while traveling or engaged in official University or WVU Research Corporation funded business.
The University authorizes only FAA certificated (FAR 121) commercial air carriers (USAir, United, Continental, American, Delta, etc.) and the WVU contract FAA certificated (FAR 135) air charter service, for business flights by University personnel. Academic use of aircraft must conform to all appropriate FAA regulations and State of West Virginia insurance underwriting requirements. The conduct and safety of all academic flight operations are the responsibility of the department operating the aircraft.
Vice Presidents and their direct reports may directly schedule a business trip utilizing the approved air charter service.
Development and maintenance of procedures rests with Business and Procurement Services.
RESPONSIBILITY FOR IMPLEMENTATION
All University air travelers are charged with providing full compliance with this policy. It is the responsibility of each Vice President to implement and maintain this policy within their area of responsibility. Business Services, at 293-4001 or P.O. Box 6001, is available to answer questions or provide additional information regarding this policy.
RESPONSIBILITY FOR INTERPRETATION
The responsibility for interpretation of this policy rests with Business Services, West Virginia University.
