McMaster-Carr is now a preferred vendor of supplies in Mountaineer Marketplace
McMaster-Carr, a supply company with more than 550,000 hardware and related products, is now a preferred vendor in Mountaineer Marketplace. McMaster-Carr specializes in next-day delivery of Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) materials, offering products to support mechanical, electrical, plumbing and utility hardware needs across WVU.
“This is another broad-based catalog designed to meet a wide range of needs,” said Assistant Vice President and Chief Procurement Officer David Beaver. Mountaineer Marketplace already features catalogs for Staples, Grainger, Dell, B&H Photo and Apple. WVU’s Procurement Contracting and Payment Services team continues to pursue contracts with other vendors to expand the catalog list and accommodate a large, distributed group of users with diverse needs.
More than 15,000 transactions were conducted in Mountaineer Marketplace in its first 90 days of operation, far eclipsing the five-year volume conducted in the WVUBuy system. Those transactions include both catalog purchases and non-catalog transactions such as direct billing, utility payments, internal transfers and products purchased from non-preferred catalogs. Altogether, that adds up to about $66 million in transactions processed so far.
Mountaineer Marketplace has about 500-550 unique users every day. The project team continues to receive constructive feedback from employees and is using the suggestions to continually fix problems and improve the user experience.
